“Corrientes de plata” is a video installation that explores extractivism, migration flows and colonisation, economic instability and socio-political unrest in Argentina, using water as a narrative element. In an effort to contextualise a personal experience of migration, the work questions the relationship between economy and migration by analysing Argentina's financial crisis of 2001 and its ongoing socio-economic deterioration. The video essay opens up narrative dimensions by juxtaposing historical temporalities, personal and archival video footage, collaged visuals and word games, bridging subjective experience and historical context. In its presentation, the video piece extends to the spatial three-dimensional realm as it's presented over a reflective surface, mirroring the flow of silver, a reference to wealth and economic oppression.
