Cosa è la patria? (What is homeland?) is a video work born from the assemblage of footage taken in the artist’s grandparents’ house during her month-long stay in Buenos Aires, Argentina. By highlighting the details of daily movements, it intends to bring attention to the presence with which these gestures are performed. In our current times we seem to live alienated from the most basic actions that form our everyday life, in this way, the most bare and essential moments such as cooking, eating, closing a window, holding a cup to tea; become overshadowed by other concerns which leave little time of silence and contemplation. Through this nearly archival collection of images, time dilates allowing for tempo to slow down dedicating a couple of minutes to observe life in its most basic form. Taking the time to stop and look closely. Elevating the quotidian by bringing forward its poetical value.
