longing for relief

2024

This publication longs to bring the mountains to the urban of the flat city of Eindhoven (Netherlands), imagining nature in a quotidien of concrete. It is a combination of edited field photography in juxtaposition with an architecture proposal inspired by Georges Perec’s poem: L'éternité; and the same poem written in a self-designed typography.

About the typography

This typography started as an exercise on reducing each character of the alphabet to its minimum expression, finding the essence of letters and maintaining readability. With Milton Glaser as an inspiration, I was interested in creating a similar effect as that of his logo for New York City (I heart NY) where readability becomes some sort of puzzle.

About the architectural proposal

Inspired by Georges Perec’s poem: L'éternité, which evokes landscapes in the quotidien in an intimate relation with the emotions they spark I designed an architecture proposal for the city of Eindhoven. Looking at the lack of relief in its geography I built a tower that speaks of the mountains with the intention of providing the users with the perspective from our concerns that height allows for.
